    Electrolytic method

    Production of hypochlorous acid by brine electrolysis.

    The concentration of hypochlorous acid is low with a high level of impurity. This means that the effective chlorine concentration is significantly reduced over a period of hours or days.

    Mixing two liquids method

    Production of hypochlorous acid by adding an acid such as hydrochloric acid to sodium hypochlorite.

    This produces a comparatively stable solution. Since the production process involves dissolved chlorine and salt, the effective chlorine concentration is significantly reduced over a period of weeks or months.
